General
Taken in 1956, while Cameroon was still under rule of the French. This is the Lamido, or Emir, of Ngaoundere viewing the performances. He is accompanied by his bodyguards (beside and behind him) and a messenger (kneeling below and to the left). In the background are French government officials, which include the Commandant and other local dignitaries. In the background and to the left are European businessmen and missionaries who were also invited to the festivities.
