General

The Fulani (also called Peul) weave patterned blankets in the Mopti region of Male. Men weave the distinctive designs with elaborate geometric patterns of predominantly black plus red and yellow on a white background using a cotton warp and wool weft. Men wear the articles as protection against mosquitoes and the cold temperature.
