General
"The play occurs sometime in the future. It is 200 years since the constitutional amendment was passed declaring the health of the people as the primary responsibility of the state. The doctors have tried to recreate paradise. A world without struggle. ... [The head of the American Medical Authority] has almost supreme authority over the lives of 6the people. ... There is another secret organization dedicated to the preservation of disease. They have underground labs which cultivate and preserve as many diseases as possible. ... They try to infect the water supplies with disease, etc. Pain is sold on the black market as drugs are today." (From the scenario in box 1, folder 20.) Dr. Madison Saddlebrook believes that he has found a way to prolong life and restore youth, but has not been assigned any subjects on which to test his discovery.
