 Series

Scope and Contents

This series consists of a large number of folders for people and organizations. Before the Tullman papers were processed, these folders had been removed from their original containers and placed into new cartons; so it is not possible to draw any conclusions about the original presentation. However, the approximately-alphabetical order in which the folders were found during processing probably represents, at least in large part, the original order. Folders may contain any mixture of clippings, e-mail messages, business cards, publicity, reports on companies, stock offerings, company products, and other information. Any given folder may contain hundreds of items, or a single business card.

There are no restrictions on use of the majority of these materials in the department for research; all patrons must comply with federal copyright regulations. Boxes 93-95 are restricted until 2070, because of the pervasive presence of private financial information. Arrangement

While the original order of folders was only approximate (with many misfilings, and duplicate folders), the listing of folders is in strict alphabetical order. The folders are numbered not according to the current order, but according to their original order; so the numbering of folders can be used to recover, at least approximately, the original order. Most such deviations in numbering are fairly minor. Because the materials were examined in detail after they had been shifted into new containers, it is not possible to know whether the major disturbance that occurs in the letter "M" was part of the original order, or was introduced later.

General

The captions on many of the folders in this series have a text element that precedes the element that was used for arranging the folder; this element sometimes appears to identify the project with which the contents of the folder were to be identified. In the captions for folders in this series listing, this initial element is transposed to follow the filing element, and is enclosed in parentheses. Personal names are inverted, to put the surname into leading position. ("Flashpoint. Aha Studios" becomes "Aha Studios (Flashpoint)"; "Experiencia. Karen May" becomes "May, Karen (Experiencia)".) The abbreviation "TFA" is expanded as "Tribeca Flashpoint Academy." (It is not clear that there is a meaningful distinction between folders labeled "Flashpoint" and those labeled "Tribeca Flashpoint Academy.") The order of folders given here is essentially the order as found, but the folders have been rearranged into a more strict alphabetical order. (This rearrangement brought to light a significant amount of duplication.) Some folders were found empty. Folders related to formal presentations by Tullman, or related to events attended by Tullman, were moved to the "Presentations and events" series. The captions on folders have been adjusted if they are incorrect (for example, the folder for the Women's Media Center was labeled "Women's Medical Center") or judged less than full (for example, corporate names have been expanded from a shortened form).
