Scope and Contents

The records in this series span the period 1940-1976 and fill three and a half boxes. They consist of course proposals, syllabi, meeting agendas and minutes, interoffice memoranda, course catalog descriptions, and correspondence. The bulk of the records is comprised of detailed course proposals, many accompanied by syllabi and reading lists. There is little material from the 1940s and almost none from 1963-1968.

The first folder in the series contains materials relating to the program as a whole.

Meeting minutes and agendas do not cover the entire period. The first set of minutes in this series is dated November 7, 1950, with the next one not until February 27, 1952. From this point until April 1954 the minutes appear regularly. There is no evidence of meetings until September of 1961 when meeting agendas and the associated proposals for discussion again appear. These appear regularly, during the academic year, until October 1963. There are no further documents until October 1969, when the minutes of the Education Program Committee first appear. From this point on, meeting minutes or agendae appears fairly regularly.
